Overview

The Technical Developer II (TD2) is a team member progressing in their career towards leading the team in the provision of technical development and system design. The team member will have proficiency in most technical tools used on the Navy Personnel and Pay (NP2) project. NP2 is personnel and pay system based on a PeopleSoft 9.2 solution utilizing the HCM, FSCM, and Global Payroll modules. A TD2 will support the design and creation of technical specifications from functional specifications for complex development projects, analyze the impact of vendor provided updates and upgrades to the system, and programming solutions using PeopleSoft 9.2 / the PeopleTools suite, and other tools. A TD2 will be expected to mentor junior resources and assist peers with technical tool knowledge transfer.

    Uphold responsibility of possibly leading a team of 2-4 developers.
  • Work with customers to understand their business processes and requirements.
  • Translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Resolve issues that arise during development.
  • Communicate project and development status to key stakeholders throughout entire development process.
  • Use best practices to test and deploy changes from development to test, staging and production environments.
  • Conduct product development activities in support of application enhancements and system problems (e.g. writing PeopleCode, building or altering PeopleSoft objects, creating/modifying component interfaces, modification and development of application engines, writing DMS and/or SQL statements, creating SQRs etc.).
  • Conduct technical design walkthroughs.
  • Perform peer reviews on other developer code.
  • Assist Functionals in the creation of the Business Process Models
  • Create Unit Test documentation for the testing team
  • Demo newly created software to the client and peers
  • Update tracking/metric software for work being done accurately and on time
  • Work with Product Managers to assist in grooming the outstanding work to be done and help prioritize the work
  • Mentor others on the team to train them on new technologies or better methods of developing software
  • Create/Review functional design documents for software features created

Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: The ideal addition to our Ohana will be responsive, have excellent technical skills, organizational and planning skills, excellent communication, and problem-solving skills, problem analysis, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable and customer service oriented. Ability to mentor and provide guidance to more junior staff.

Education and Experience: The preferred candidate will have between 3 and 6 years of professional experience. Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics or equivalent experience. Security+ and PS certifications are preferred for this position.

Experience leading a PeopleSoft Enterprise development and support is preferred. Seasoned Proficiency of SQL, Application Packages, PeopleCode, PeopleTools, Workflow, Application Engine, Component Interface, Fluid Components, Page Field Configurator, Event mapping, Activity Guides, and Integration Broker.

Clearance: A background investigation at the T3 level is required, as this is not currently a classified position. Must be a U.S. citizen.
