Description

SUMMARY

The VP of Original Co-Productions & Acquisitions will play a pivotal role in Hallmark Media's creative execution and strategy for co-production and acquired content. They will lead the curation and development of cost-effective originals to drive success across both linear and SVOD platforms, fostering diversity and inclusion in our content offerings. Reporting to both the SVP, Programming & Content Strategy and the SVP, Development this position holds a key leadership role within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops creative strategy and vision for Original Co-Productions and Acquisitions across linear and SVOD platforms.
  • Tracks and evaluates potential content opportunities to inform acquisitions and co-productions strategy.
  • Oversees creative aspects and collaborates with producers and writers to ensure alignment with Hallmark Media standards for original movies and series.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with content partners and industry counterparts to stay informed about industry trends and emerging acquisition targets.
  • Negotiates and oversees co-production and acquisition deal points in collaboration with Business Affairs.
  • Sources material, takes pitches, and strategically develops projects to meet the needs of linear and SVOD platforms.
  • Oversees the development and production of 25+ projects annually.
  • Leads and develops creative strategy/vision for their individual team (i.e. Holiday, Rom-Coms, Scripted Series, etc.) reporting into SVP, Programming.
  • Supervises execs to help elevate the creative quality and vision of the slate.
  • Oversees the creation of film and/or series concepts and budgets and ensures cost-effective negotiations.
  • Develops original movies and potential projects, overseeing from start to finish, and provides comprehensive notes on all creative elements.
  • Makes recommendations to EVP for title lock.
  • Collaborates with internal departments as it relates to promotion, marketing, music, and publicity.
  • Collaborates and makes recommendations with Ad Sales for product placement opportunities and sees it through to execution on production.
  • Reads and notes Exec's scripts prior to approval for greenlight meetings. Reviews and notes cuts prior to lock.
  • Actively develops and maintains strong relationships with the creative community, including talent, agents, show creators, and content buyers.
  • Liaises with producers and writers on behalf of the network, providing creative input and direction.
  • Visits production sets and monitors creative vision.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.).
  • 10+ years of experience in media (TV/Film/SVOD Prod/Development/Acquisitions - Scripted/Series).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

The salary range for this job is between $153,600 to $213,300. Salary rate will take into consideration several factors including location.
