Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Manager in our Fullerton, California location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all position the Facility and Maintenance activities at the Fullerton manufacturing facility. This position ensures that facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained in dependable condition; that required repairs are rapidly completed; and that capital and non-capital projects are effectively managed. Directs the activities of teams of technical personnel, skilled craftworkers, and contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and implements maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure that all equipment and facilities are operating at a maximum efficiency and in compliance with safety regulations
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure that all work is completed on time to a high standard
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data, and develop strategies to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Collaborate with the production teams to identify maintenance requirements, and develop plans to minimize disruptions to production schedules
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for maintenance work and ensure that all materials are properly stored and accounted for
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring that all expenditures are within budget and in line with company goals
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery, and develop training programs for maintenance personnel to ensure that all team members are adequately trained to operate and maintain new equipment
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as with all relevant regulations and standards
  • Monitors and manages the activities of outside contractors. Prepares technical requests for proposals. Evaluates proposals; negotiates terms, conditions, and pricing; awards contracts to bidder providing best value to the company. Monitors and controls projects and budgets to prevent cost overruns.
  • Prepares facility designs for major projects such as equipment installation or movement, facility addition or modification, and real property modifications. May retain external professional services to support project completion, obtain specialized knowledge, or to comply with codes and regulations.
  • Coordinates activities with Safety & Environmental team to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manage miscellaneous services are provided by contractors such as janitorial, pest control and fire extinguisher inspection.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continual improvement of organizational capabilities.

Competencies

  • Must have the ability to work effectively with both company and contractor personnel
  • Must have excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete multiple work assignments in diverse fields with minimal direction and supervision
  • Broad knowledge of technical systems, machinery and equipment, applicable codes and regulations
  • Knowledge of facilities and maintenance management software, preferably Maintenance Express software
  • Experience and thorough understanding with electrical mechanical and maintenance skills
, Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredit institution preferably in Business, Economics, or Engineering combination of education preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Facilities Maintenance Aerospace Manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or lead responsibility
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
