PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - 3rd Shift

Tenneco is one of the world's largest pure-play powertrain companies service OE markets worldwide with engineered solutions addressing fuel economy, power output, and criteria pollution requirements for gasoline, diesel and electrified powertrains.

We are looking for a Production Supervisor for our Hydraulics Department at our Frankfort, Indiana plant. The Off-Shift Production Supervisor will report to the Value Stream Manager and will directly supervise 30 - 40 employees in the production process. The Production Supervisor ensures a safe work environment, drives quality improvements, develops a qualified workforce, reduces operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in training to produce a quality product / services, uses preventative measures to ensure the customer requirements and company standards are met.
  • Comply with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
  • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reports all incidents to supervisor/ manager.
  • Adhere to the facility's quality, environmental, health and safety policies and procedures that are identified by the company management systems.
  • Responsibilities include: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Excellent attendance is required.
  • Works closely with the Logistics Department and the previous shift supervisors in scheduling and monitoring the flow of quality production parts from start to finish in all areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Ensures production teams are performing work in conformance with Work Instructions.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinates and completes an accurate and thorough production report for the entire shift.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and/or employees.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Resolves employee problems or submits unsettled problems to Value Stream Manager.
  • Initiates contact for assistance with emergency maintenance, engineering, quality and or other problems.
  • Completes necessary work orders for maintenance work.
  • Approving time-cards and overtime.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and specific projects.
  • Works with the Production team on the monthly inventory and the annual physical inventory.
  • Working scheduled overtime along with shift team members is required.

EDUCATION:Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; OR three year to five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports for business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers.
  • Familiarity with customer and company part #'s, blueprints and drawings.
  • Proficiency and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and other data collection systems.
  • Must be detail and quality oriented.
  • Ability to work independently
