Director of Solution Engineering

The Director of Solution Engineering will provide technical expertise and support to Account Management, our large Venues and Carrier Sales team. They will have a key role in developing and maintaining customer relationships vital to Boingo's success in the market. The Director of Sales Engineering will provide technical sales and costing support for service deployment and network expansion. They will control Regional workflow between all key stakeholders and serve as the "Central Intake" for internal processes from project inception to completion.

This person has superior problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively deal with work-related problems. Additionally, this candidate must possess strong leadership, project management, time management, analytical, and overall judgment skills to succeed in the role. Strong communication skills (written and oral) as well as a customer focus are paramount, and the individual must be able to prioritize and work under pressure. They possess a big-picture understanding of telecom networks as well as wireless technologies (Ethernet, IP, 4G, 5G, CBRS, WiFi, PNET) and the processes and systems used to engineer, design, build and operate such networks. More importantly, understand the technology trends that are of importance to current and future Boingo customers and have the skills to serve as a trusted advisor to customers in the technology space.

Responsibilities:

• Customer Facing - Interact and work closely with stakeholders, Sales Managers, and Sales teams to actively participate in sales calls and processes to help qualify and prioritize sales opportunities as well as assist and participate in customer s meetings and presentations.
• Respond to requests for sales engineering - Provide specialized support to the Sales team by providing technical expertise, written technical proposal documents for customers, network design documents, and guidance in the planning and closing of sales opportunities, as well as prepare and deliver customer presentations to technical and executive audiences.
• Effectively manage workload and priorities to provide quality pre-and post-sales technical support to the sales organization in a timely and accurate manner and driven by a commitment to customer service that compels the Company to acquire and retain customers by anticipating and exceeding their expectations.
• Provide Post-Sales Support to Develop and provide clear, accurate and comprehensive Scope of Work documents and designs that can be used as input to customer proposals and RFP responses and provide necessary detail and expectations to ensure an effective hand-off to the implementation team.
• Provide Support to Product Development and Process Improvement Teams as requested and make recommendations to the Product teams on new products or product enhancements that could enable Boingo to better serve customer requirements and position Boingo in a competitive advantage.
• Create high level design proposals and technical presentation material based on Boingo wireless solutions that target Enterprise customers and position our products as the best solutions for prospective clients.

Requirements:

• 5-10+ years' experience in wireless cellular telecommunications; and experience in other wireless technologies preferred, such as two-way trunk radio, Wi-Fi, etc.
• Working knowledge of 4G and 5G wireless protocols (e.g., UMTS, LTE-MIMO, LAA, high order MIMO, CBRS and WLAN )
• Working knowledge of in-building wireless DAS and outdoor macro-cell site systems, WLAN Access networks and LTE RAN and vRAN solutions.
• Level-3 certification in iBwave or equivalent experience, and 3-5 years of experience working with inclines, commercial, transportation, sporting event centers, and amphitheater
• Able to pass a 10-year TSA / FBI background check (for airport security badging purposes)
• Knowledge of and ability to perform engineering computations and calculations
• Bachelor of Science in an engineering related field
