Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Practice Management Coordinator. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV).

In this role, you will be supervised by and work closely with the Practice Managers of the Litigation, IP and Strategic Advisory and Government Enforcement (SAGE) Business Units to support the daily operations and strategic initiatives of several business units and practice groups.

Responsibilities

    Provide high-quality support to Litigation, Intellectual Property, and SAGE Business Unit Practice Managers ("Practice Managers") in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop relationships with business services professionals across the firm to foster trust and confidence in the function and role of Practice Management Coordinator.
  • Assist in scheduling and planning practice group and other meetings and drafting various materials and analysis for same. This will require proficiency with the Microsoft suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Track and aggregate information from various firm systems related to staffing, utilization, budgets, recruiting, billing rates, and other projects as needed. This work may involve initial data analysis and compiling information for Practice Managers.
  • Assist Practice Managers with staffing requests, including analysis of staffing and workload management process, for associates, counsel, and paralegals.
  • Assist Practice Managers with initiatives and special projects, including planning, scheduling, expense management, managing written materials, and drafting communications related to same.
  • Help project-manage collaborative efforts with various departments and professionals across the Firm.
  • Support processes associated with attorney human resource matters.
  • Assist with a variety of projects using firm technology and resources, as needed.
Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience is required
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in professional services environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office, Teams and Zoom skills.
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency is a must.
  • Ability to learn about, and act in consideration of, the requirements of a professional services environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is imperative.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle time sensitive matters appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Commitment to collaboration; comfortable taking initiative while seeking appropriate guidance.
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task.
  • Ability to use discretion while working with confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • California Major Markets* $48,000 - $64,000
  • New York City $51,000 - $67,000
  • National $46,000 - $60,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
