The opportunity:

The Associate Director, Application Development, is an experienced manager that oversees one or more teams of engineers. He/She leads the activities of the development and support teams involved in the design, development, deployment, and support of core IT software applications. Effectively coaches, mentors, grows, and empowers engineers and engineering chapter to deliver leading technology solutions that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, secure, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives across U.S. IT. Has strategic focus while contributing to the development of valued solutions based off of business outcomes and objectives across U.S. IT.

How you will contribute:

  • Effectively coach, mentor, grow, and empower entry-level engineers and engineering chapter to deliver leading technology solutions that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, secure, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives across U.S. IT

  • Execute full software and product development life cycle (SDLC) and lead continuous improvements across U.S. IT

  • Develop industry leading deliverables to deliver technical solution(s) seeking business and Client feedback across U.S. IT and U.S. business group.

  • Develop leading software verification (testing) plans and quality assurance procedures.

  • Document and maintain industry leading technical solution functionality.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.

  • Deploy industry leading programs and evaluate business and Client feedback.

  • Ensure software is updated with latest features.

  • Proven leader in code reviews, ability to approve any features, and validate vulnerability fixes.

  • Proven ability to write functional specifications for any features.

  • Effectively mentor and champion other engineers.

  • Retain and attract top diverse engineering talent.

  • Coach and empower team(s) to define future leading/best-in-class technology roadmaps.

  • Own supplier and license management of tools/software in accountable technology stack(s) while influencing efficiencies across U.S. IT.

  • Lead improvements to application performance, reliability, and scale across U.S. IT.

What you will bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree with major emphasis in computer science engineering and technologies or related field

  • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in advanced principles and techniques of systems analysis and design and computer programming and documentation.

  • Minimum of 5 years of technology management experience

  • Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices, DevOps, Release Management and Test Management

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent, and conflicting priorities and deadlines.

  • Organize, prioritize, and track tasks, requests, and projects effectively.

  • Acquire and maintain current technological and regulatory knowledge.

  • Author and assemble professional documentation and maintain business records.

  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive productive and cooperative and harmonious working relationships.

  • Maintain business communications.

Preferred skills

  • Effectively utilize, influence, drive, and continuously improve multiple software development and deployment methodologies, processes, development best practices and DevOps/DevSecOps principles across U.S. IT

  • A background in ECM or Imaging configuration including design and implementation of document metadata/taxonomy, capture/scanning profiles

  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred) and Azure

  • Ability to apply, teach, and coach leading testing skills, tools/frameworks, techniques, processes, and principles to software solutions in support of defect management, automation, diagnosis and reporting in a complex production environment.

  • Experience in entire SDLC process across multiple engagement
