Under the direction of the Manager of Test and Support Engineering, the Traffic Applications Engineer II will apply their knowledge of traffic engineering and traffic operations to test Econolite's products, identify and document product issues, and analyze and troubleshoot customer applications. This role will work closely with product development engineers and the rest of the engineering team to understand/review product features and customer requirements and help develop high-quality products and solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations. We are seeking someone with a strong Traffic Engineering background and a passion for traffic management applications to help take our products and solutions to the next level.

DUTIES

  • Create and execute test plans and test cases for all the embedded software driving Econolite's traffic controller and detection products.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate existing test equipment, hardware and software/firmware functionality, networks, and customer issues.
  • Analyze traffic engineering concepts and practices, traffic patterns, and user behavior to generate test cases with high product quality and usability in mind.
  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, project/program managers, and other team members throughout all stages of product development.
  • Assist with the analysis of customer specifications and requirements and development of appropriate solutions to meet and exceed requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A technical degree, preferably in Civil (transportation) or Electrical Engineering, or evidence of equivalent relevant technical experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering and related systems/equipment
  • Proficiency in the concepts and principles of traffic engineering and operations, with hands-on experience in traffic controllers, including signal turn-on procedures and traffic detection systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in Traffic Signal Timing, Traffic Signal Design, or Travel Modeling and Implementation
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, network devices like routers and switches, and networking tools
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Any experience in test automaton and scripting languages such as Python is a huge plus
  • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting traffic signal control equipment from different standards, manufacturers, and types, with a specific focus on Econolite and Safetran equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with different operating systems (Linux, Windows) and SQL databases is preferred.
  • Some customer-facing experience, including issue handling and resolution preferred.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT

COMPENSATION

The base compensation range for this full-time exempt position is $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year plus benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The compensation range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
